It is recommended to get vaccinated against typhoid fever, rabies and hepatitis A and B. Ask your doctor for advice.
Outside the big cities, like Vientiane and Luang Prabang, tap water is not drinkable, so it is recommended to drink bottled water. Protect yourself against mosquitoes, which can transmit diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and malaria.
Laos is a safe country, but it is important to remain vigilant, especially in large cities (risk of pick pocketing).
The best season to visit Laos is from November to March. During this time, the weather is dry and sunny, with mild temperatures and little rain.
